Governance, participation and efficiency in REDD+ readiness phase of Argentina and Chile

Abstract

The aim of this paper is to analyze comparatively the cases of Argentina and Chile regarding the readiness phase of the mechanism to Reduce Emissions from Deforestation and Forest Degradation (REDD+). The selected study period is between 2008 and 2018. The theoretical approach of Governance is adopted for the present paper. As part of Governance, the concepts of "participation" and "effectiveness" are identified to guide the proposed analysis. Methodologically, it is a comparative case analysis with a qualitative method, using the analysis of documents, files and key reports exchanged by state and non-state relevant actors in climate and forestry matters.
