In the entanglements of pleasure. Of gluttony and lust
Abstract
This study take its inspiration from Humberto Giannini’s treatment of the “deadly sins” in their negativity, as “evil spirits”, in accordance with their meanings in the christian tradition. Here we will keep in mind Giannini’s (1997) interpretation of those “evil spirits,” focusing on the “sins” of lust and gluttony, and placing this interpretation inrelation with other meanders of self-interest that are worth considering for a reflection on pleasure. It goes without saying that we will always fall short of a thorough development of such a reflection, given the unlimited relational possibilities of pleasure that surpass the restricted experience, imagination and speculative capacities of each individual person.Keywords:
