Abstract

The aim of this paper is to discuss the gender perspective within the context of the new rurality, new positions and the social gender identities. The discussion about new rurality is no longer confined to the dichotomy of rural/urban; it is related to many regions where the population makes different activities that interact. At the same time, there is an interdependency of the rural world with the economy of the urban world. Within the development logic, marked by the capital accumulation, industry development, changes in the production relations and consume patrons, it is considered the existence of an alternative development considering the gender perspective. Finally, it is concluded that this point of view has theoretical and methodological implications and is a challenge for the construction of public policies and several institutions.
