Abstract

The present study analysed the Chilean dataset of the international investigation of parental burnout (IIPB), with a focus on gender differences, as found in our general population sample (N = 430). For such purpose, we compared fathers and mothers through their parental burnout measures as described by the Parental Burnout Assessment (P.B.A.). All mean comparisons were significantly higher for women than to men but emotional distancing. Finally, we tested a multiple linear regression model that explained 16% of the variance for the criterion variable: global parental burnout. We discuss the results at the light of local public policies on parenthood, as this was the first study using the PBA in Chile.
